A Creature lurking in the darkness a bunch of kids alone on an island. His work so i went in blind beliving all the hype. Ibhad never heard of cutter and was not familliar with. I read a bunch of reviews all praising Nick Cutter and how great the book is. I listen to a lot audio books and I looking for the next one. I'll be keeping an eye out for Nick Cutter stories, he did really well on The Troop.
Looking forward to starting The Deep soon. Parasites fucking disgust me in a way nothing else seems to. It would make a great gore-fest of a film though.Īlso doesn't help that I've been battling a bed bug outbreak while reading this. Not sure how likely that is considering the constant graphic violence against 14 year old boys. Not everything needs to be made into a movie, but I would love to see an adaptation of this.
Making one of the kids a psychopath just to make sure there aren't any lulls in the action was great, if over-the-top. The image of thousands of worms pouring out of Kent's skull as he was drowned under the moonlight will stick with me for a long time. Luckily I hadn't read any spoilers beforehand, just that it was very gross. Haven't read a book on a while that just kept going like that. It certainly isn't high art in a literary sense, but I loved it. I'm not sure I've ever read something so consistently sickening and disturbing. This book starts fast and just keeps going.
